چکیده

EBRT: electron beam radiation therapy GRT: Grenz ray therapy HHD: Hailey-Hailey disease INTRODUCTION Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD), or familial benign chronic pemphigus, is an autosomal dominant genodermatosis. In this condition, dysregulation of intracellular calcium homeostasis leads to impaired desmosome function and suprabasilar acantholysis of the epidermis. Clinically, this condition presents as intertriginous vesicles, erosions, and weeping, fissured plaques. The painful nature of HHD, risk of secondary infection, and malodor can significantly affect a patient’s quality of life. The lesions are often difficult to control with topical steroids and antimicrobials, necessitating more aggressive treatments. In previous case reports, ionizing radiation was found to prolong remission of plaques. We report the use of electron beam radiation therapy (EBRT) to treat 2 patients with recalcitrant HHD.

Persistent improvement of previously recalcitrant Hailey-Hailey disease with electron beam radiotherapy.

Hailey-Hailey disease, or familial benign chronic pemphigus, is an autosomal dominant genodermatosis. Disease symptoms may contribute to an adverse impact on quality of life and functional limitation and disability. As Hailey-Hailey disease is chronic and frequently recalcitrant to treatment, multiple therapeutic approaches, including surgical options, have been attempted. We describe here thre...

[Familial benign chronic pemphigus (Hailey-Hailey disease)].

We present an atypical case of familial benign chronic pemphigus (Hailey-Hailey disease) that manifested with relapsing, flaccid vesicles and erosions, which were limited to the upper chest, anterior aspect of the neck, and anterior aspects of the upper arms without intertriginous involvement. Although individual eruptions in this patient demonstrated asymmetry, relapses did not obey a segmenta...

Familial benign chronic pemphigus (Hailey-Hailey Disease): use of topical immunomodulators as a modern treatment option.

Benign chronic familial pemphigus (Hailey-Hailey disease) is a rare autosomal dominant blistering skin disorder characterized by suprabasal cell separation (acantholysis) of the epidermis. The Hailey brothers first described it in 1939. Hailey-Hailey disease usually appears in the third or fourth decade, although it can occur at any age. Heat, sweating and friction often exacerbates the disease...

Management of familial benign chronic pemphigus

Benign familial chronic pemphigus or Hailey-Hailey disease is caused by an autosomal dominant mutation in the ATP2C1 gene leading to suprabasilar acantholysis. The disease most commonly affects intertriginous areas symmetrically. The chronic nature of the disease and multiple recurrences make the disease bothersome for patients and a treatment challenge for physicians. Treatments include topica...

Efficacy of erbium:YAG laser ablation in Darier disease and Hailey-Hailey disease.

BACKGROUND Among different surgical approaches, dermabrasion and carbon dioxide laser vaporization have been used to treat Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD) (familial benign chronic pemphigus) and Darier disease (DD) (keratosis follicularis), with various results. Because of the erbium: YAG laser's unique absorption characteristics in tissue water, erbium:YAG laser ablation combines the advantages of...
